Ahi Tuna Steaks

Prep Time: 5 min
Cook Time: 5 min
Additional Time: 10 min
Total Time: 20 min
Servings: 3 – 4 oz ahi tuna steaks

Cookware Needed:

  • Cast-iron pan

Grocery List:

  • 3 – four oz Ahi Tuna steaks (i buy these frozen from aldi, they are ~$5 for the 3 pack)
  • 2-3 – TBSPs soy sauce
  • 1 – TBSP sesame oil
  • 1 – TBSP honey
  • 1 – TBSP vegetable oil
  • 1 – TBSP sesame seeds (i like both regular and black but any are good)

Recipe:

  1. Combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, and honey in a bag, then add the ahi tuna steaks to marinate. Allow them to sit for at least 10 minutes, or until dinner time.
  2. Add the vegetable oil to a cast-iron pan and heat it over medium-high heat to sear.
  3. Remove the ahi tuna from the marinade and coat it in sesame seeds.
  4. Sear the tuna steaks for 45 – 60 seconds per side, then transfer to a cutting board and allow them to rest for a couple of minutes.
  5. Thinly slice with a sharp knife and serve with your favorite sides like white rice or fresh mini cucumbers.

Notes:

  • I like to pour the extra marinade into a sauce dish and use it for dipping.
